Creative Workplaces & Schools

 So I was checking out Smashing Magazine today and came across this article on creative workspaces and it got me thinking about what schools look like.  The article (which is mostly pictures) begins:
Your workplace and the atmosphere surrounding you determine the way you work and explore your imagination. The more inspirational your workplace is, the easier it is to break the creativity block and discover new ideas.

I don't see any reason why I wouldn't agree with that statement.  So, do you think that the majority of schools (or, more precisely, the design and layout of schools) you have been in support this statement? I mean, are there legitimate reasons why schools couldn't look like the creative places they are supposed to exemplify?  Just thinking...
